You can apply if you live in California and are a citizen or have a lawful immigration status. Plans are available with or without financial help, depending on your income.
One application covers both Covered California and Medi-Cal.
Compare your options and pick what fits your budget.
Pay online, or wait for a bill from your insurance company. This usually takes about two weeks.
Our insurance company mails your membership ID card once they get your payment. (You can use your plan before your ID arrives.)
Review plans, estimated costs and possible financial help before starting an application. Most people qualify for help lowering their monthly payment.
You'll need to know what information to gather and how to submit your application.
The following information can help you apply faster. You don't need to submit documents up front, since we check your details against government records and information you've already given us. If we need anything else to confirm your eligibility, we'll contact you with the specific documents to provide.
Apply the way that works best for you. Each option is free and confidential:
If you think you may qualify for financial help, use the application with financial help.
