The right path depends on whether you are setting up a new agency or certifying under an existing certified agency.
A new agency must appoint an Authorized Signer or Agency Manager to initiate the contracting process. The agency manager is responsible for all business submitted to CCSB and the management of all agents using that agency's Tax ID.
Downline agents, or agents who are employed by an agency, certify under an existing certified agency to manage small-business enrollments. Before a downline can enroll, the agency must either be in the process of becoming certified or already certified.
To align with the CCSB agency contracting structure, all CCSB licensed insurance agents must sign either the CCSB Agency Agreement or the CCSB Non-Monetary Agreement.
Agents must also follow the CCSB Agent Code of Conduct to maintain certification with Covered California. Failure to comply may result in termination of the agreement and revocation of certification.
